Maytime SRA Community Newsletter July 2024

Where does the time go? As winter nights grow shorter and the sun starts peeking through a little earlier, we reflect on a fantastic quarter.

We are thrilled to report almost zero crime in the area. Odie was on high alert during the elections, and thanks to his vigilance, we experienced a smooth election year.

You may have noticed that Mandla is on leave. We miss his friendly face as she assists with various tasks in the area. During her absence, we have the great Temba stepping in to help wherever he can.

Maytime Fun Run/Walk:

A Morning of Community and Joy Our recent Fun Run/Walk at the Maytime area was a delightful success! The event took place at the Cricket field by Kloof Country Club on a proper winter morning, with dappled sunlight streaming through the large trees surrounding the area.

Beautiful Short video done by See Upper Highway doing what they do best!

We had an excellent turnout of vendors, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. See Café served delicious coffee, and the Rotary Club provided mouth-watering bacon and egg rolls. Blue Security had treats for the children, and Proforce security handed out fantastic little giveaways. The Bread Basket offered beautiful bread for sale, adding to the variety of goodies available.

Despite the turnout being slightly lower than usual, the morning was filled with fun and laughter. A special thank you to ‘The Real Estate Company’ Video for sponsoring a water table and for their support of ‘RAVE’ (Rave Rhino & Wildlife Project NPC).

It was wonderful to see such amazing people come together to create this event. We look forward to many more mornings like this, filled with community spirit and joy.

Sponsorship Request for Guarding and the CCTV Staff Incentive Program

Thank you Kayser Baird for sponsoring our Crime-Free Incentive. Without the support of companies and people like you, we would not be able to make this initiative possible. We have reached a total of 167 days without crime.

Unfortunately, at the end of June, there was a break-in at one of the business parks. The suspects seemed to have access to the business unit as there was no forced entry at the main entrance. However, a door inside was damaged, and a laptop was taken.

we are reaching out to local businesses and private individuals who may be interested in sponsoring our incentive program for our guarding and CCTV staff.

We reward our security team with a R150 SPAR voucher if they meet their target, which is measured by achieving 30 consecutive crime-free days within our community. This incentive helps to keep our team motivated and vigilant.

Your support would be greatly appreciated and make a significant difference in maintaining the safety of our neighborhood.

Thank you for considering this request.

Congratulations to Our Star of the Quarter! We are thrilled to announce Siya Phahla as our Star of the Quarter! Siya has shown exceptional dedication, hard work, and a positive attitude, making a significant impact on our team and community.

Please join us in congratulating Siya for this well-deserved recognition. Siya’s efforts are truly appreciated and set a great example for us all.

As a reminder from Blue Security: let’s not get complacent. Remember to arm your alarms, and if you haven’t changed your PIN on your keypad in a while, it’s always a good idea to do so.

Fire Awareness in Our Area

We have experienced several fires in and around the Upper Highway area recently, highlighting the importance of fire safety.

We urge everyone, especially those in Stockville Valley and Motala, to maintain and protect your property by creating and maintaining fire breaks. These are crucial in preventing the spread of fires and safeguarding your boundaries.

Please take the necessary precautions to protect your property and our community.
